Inspiration:

Being incarcerated you crave connection. We are unable to touch, high five or even hug. Imagine going years without the physical connection or contact of a friend or a loved one. I wait for the day of this love language. To feel love and connection.

What role does art play in your life?

There are no rules. It is freeing in a place that is not. Art is my favorite expression.

Artist statement:

Art is my favorite expression. There is no definition. No right or wrong. No rules. Having to always follow rules, art makes me free. No judgement mattering but your own. As an artist, I am empowered and free, even as an inmate. Having endless ways and medias to utilize in expression is endless. Whatever emotion you're feeling can be found in art. Whether it is with color or texture, you can allow others to feel how you feel in the way through art. Having the freedom to express is a gift and it comes free in this life. Being able to involve others into your version of reality is beautiful. To invite only those that you want. There is no perfection with art as there is in the rest of the world. Art is what you make it.
